Police Searching For Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed a Santa Ana Pedestrian

Early Sunday morning, Santa Ana police received reports of a hit-and-run accident around 2:00 a.m. It all took place near the 1200 block of West 1st Street. Witnesses described the suspects vehicle as a blue, four-door Honda Accord with tinted windows and was seen traveling southbound on Bristol Street.

Santa Ana police are now searching for the suspect responsible for the death of a 35-year-old man. Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna stated that “the victim, in this case, was walking across mid-block, not in a crosswalk. Had the suspect stayed, potentially this could have been just an accident … now it’s become a case or a potential case of vehicular manslaughter.”

The 35-year-old Santa Ana resident Jorge Luis Lopez-Lobato was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Parts of the suspects vehicle were also found at the site of the collision.
